If you have not heard already, the stomach flu, aka gastrointestinal virus, is on the prowl and is hungry for victims to feed on J.  Actually, if you are not aware of the spread of the stomach flu that means you do not have it, or haven’t had it yet, and you should count your blessings.  Unfortunately my family has been hit twice with the stomach flu in the past two months and since having it I’ve heard of countless other families diagnosed with the virus.  On the other hand, there are those individuals who could be in a room filled with the virus and would still remain healthy.  Most of us would pay for those amazing antibodies right?  Due to the many viruses passing around it is a good time to seek out a quality CA health insurance plan.  This way you can take yourself, as well as your family, to a doctor you trust and not have to empty out your bank account in the process.  However, if you are one of those healthy families, who rarely become ill, there are other options to look into, such as CA Health Savings Accounts (HSA).  Lets take a look at what the stomach flu is, and its symptoms first and then we can discuss other CA medical insurance options.

In an article by the Orange County Radiation Oncology Center (OCROC) it says, “Symptoms of the stomach flu usually last from one to two days.  The stomach flu can cause diarrhea and vomiting.”  In regards to the cause of the stomach flu the article states that the, “Rotavirus and Norwalk virus are the most common ones.  The viruses are found in contaminated food or drinking water.  The viruses are frequently spread by poor hand washing.”  To help prevent your family from getting the virus it is recommended to always wash your hands of course and to do your best to not be in contact with anyone who has the gastrointestinal virus.  Now if your future is ill fated and you get the stomach flu it seems the virus needs to take its course for the most part, but it is essential to keep yourself as hydrated as possible and to get as much rest as possible.

During the school year and fall and winter seasons illnesses are so easily passed amongst children, which in turn helps to spread sickness amongst parents and then into the work place.  It is vitally important that all of us have a CA medical insurance plan that caters to the unique needs of your family.  As I mentioned before, there are those who tend to get sick more easily, while others seldom become ill.  For many families it may be a good option to look into a CA health savings account (HSA).  These accounts are tax-free and tax deductible, which could in turn help to save you money.  You can use this money only for medical use, but unlike many CA health insurance policies, the money can go towards vision and dental use as well.  If you do not use the money, not to worry, any money not used is carried over annually.  There is a lot more to learn about HSA’s and only you can determine what CA medical insurance policy will be the best fit for you.  Yet, if you would like to read more information Professional Choice Insurance wrote a blog, which goes into more detail about HSA's.
