What CA Insurance Policy is Best When You Are Pregnant?
It is a beautiful and precious time in a family’s life when a loving couple decides they want to extend their family and have children. There is so much excitement, anticipation and wonder. Will I have a boy or girl, will they look like me, or my spouse? What hobbies will they be into? How can I be an amazing fun, yet strict parent to this beautiful, innocent child? What should I eat and drink during my pregnancy to help assure that my child will be healthy? Being able to get pregnant and have a child are miracles within themselves. It is important that we do all that we can to live a nourishing lifestyle before, during and after pregnancy. In order to do so we need to go and visit our primary care physician often (PCP), and of course visit our OBGYN on a regular basis. Before having a child it is a good time to go over your CA health insurance policy with your spouse, as well as your CA insurance company. Some medical insurance policies are more ideal for an individual having a child, versus someone who is not and only visiting their PCP.
I recently read a very informative article in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) titled Stricter Thinking on Alcohol During Pregnancy. If you were at all curious as to why alcohol consumption during pregnancy is not recommended this article may help to answer those questions. The article stated, “This is also the time when a mother's alcohol consumption poses the greatest risk of doing lifelong physical damage to her baby, according to a new study of nearly 1,000 women who drank at least once in their pregnancies.” In the study that was performed some women had less than one drink a day and their baby still exhibited Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) characteristics. The article went on to say, “Fetal alcohol syndrome—an array of physical and mental abnormalities including learning disabilities, language delays, poor concentration and low IQ—was first recognized in the early 1970s.” Tom Donaldson, president of the National Organization for FAS, a nonprofit advocacy group said, "We know that alcohol crosses the placenta; we know that it's linked to mental and physical problems; so why risk it?" According to the article there are many women who have children that are unaware that their child has FAS. There are also women who are too embarrassed to come forth and admit they drank while pregnant which caused their child to have FAS. It takes courage to come forth, but if we do then that beautiful child can be helped, as well as the mother.
When you become pregnant, or are deciding you would like to have children soon, you may feel a bit overwhelmed about the different CA heath insurance policies that are available. You may even be a CA small business owner and your employee may be having a child. You will also want to make sure that she has the best medical coverage she can get. Managed Care Plans
- Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs)
